What happened to Survey Team 4?
A downloadable game for Windows and macOS
It's been a year since Survey Team 4 landed on Osiris 4. They reported a peaceful planet with the highest density of life signs ever detected. And then .... nothing. No response to communications, no emergency beacons, nothing at all. What happened to them?
What happened to Survey Team 4? is the third chapter in my One day at a time series. The series was begun as a means for me to practice coming up with simple games. I set myself a few rules to try and ensure they games stay simple:
- I get 20 hrs to develop and upload each game.
- No individual game can be released until the collection is complete.
- Once all games are complete I get 4 additional hours per game to polish them.
- All games are done solo but I can use third party assets.
With the rules in place the question was then what would I use as prompts? I decided on working my way through all of the Global Game Jam themes in order. What happened to Survey Team 4? is based on the 2011 theme of "extinction".

The Graphics and sound design are great! I only found 3 datapads, I don't know if there are more but I was fun.

A good game the atmosphere is scary, to bad you don't get to see the thing that's actually chasing you. Here's my gameplay hope you enjoy : )

Hey, great job. Atmosphere is great, sounds are good and creepy. I don't know if I had luck or it was because I didn't stop running, but I started from beacon and got back to it exactly at sunrise. Nothing happened to me, except sounds around me like something was in the trees. And I just ran out of lights when sun has risen. Maybe I was lucky enough not to encounter whatever lives on this planet.
Anyway, great game, hoping to see more from you in this genre.

I’m glad you enjoyed it! Sounds like you hit the timing perfectly. There’s only the tiniest bit of buffer in the timing.

Hi there, I am a youtuber and I hope to get some support from you guys by leaving a like and subscribe at my channel.
I was very interested to try out the game as I saw the beautiful graphics and environment in an actual horror game but I was a little disapppointed by the length of the game being so short and that there was no sight of the actual enemy in the game. I have no idea whether it is possible to activate the beacon in the game but I hope to see more information provided about Survey Team 4 and more gameplay time in the future.
